Vulcan Energy Secures Permit for Lithium Extraction Plant in Germany

Vulcan Energy Resources Limited has received the permit to build its Lithium Extraction Plant (LEP) for the Phase One Lionheart Project in Landau, Germany. This approval marks the completion of all construction permits necessary for commercial Phase One sites.

The Lionheart Project integrates a geothermal and lithium extraction facility, capable of producing 275 GWh of power and 24,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide annually. The plant will leverage Vulcan's VULSORB® technology to extract lithium, completing a carbon-neutral cycle without burning fossil fuels.

The lithium chloride produced at the LEP will be transported to the Central Lithium Plant in Frankfurt. Vulcan's strategic development supports the EU's aim to reduce raw material dependency, providing a domestic lithium source for the European battery industry.
