Biomethane production begins in Monflanquin thanks to Waga Energy
On January 29, 2026, the WAGABOX® unit at the Albié waste storage site in Monflanquin began producing biomethane. This project, financed by Valorizon and Avergies, transforms the biogas emitted by the waste into biomethane. The biomethane is then injected into the local natural gas network, managed by GRDF, to supply 2,000 homes per year.
The site prevents the emission of 3,200 tonnes of CO₂ annually by substituting biomethane for fossil gas. Supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, this project is part of an energy transition and circular economy approach.
Locally produced biomethane also fuels vehicles via the Témob network of stations, offering a sustainable solution for heavy-duty transport. SEM Avengeries and Valorizon are committed to this initiative to strengthen the region's energy independence.
