Hillsborough County Partners with Waga Energy for RNG Production in Florida

Hillsborough County, Florida, has selected Waga Energy to construct and operate a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production unit at the Southeast County Landfill in Lithia. This facility will convert landfill gas into pipeline-quality RNG, capable of producing up to 610,000 MMBtu annually.

Utilizing the patented WAGABOX® technology, the plant is designed to process up to 3,000 standard cubic feet per minute of landfill gas. This project is set to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 47,500 tons each year, supporting the circular economy by displacing fossil fuel usage.

The Southeast County Landfill, operated by WM, receives over 400,000 tons of waste yearly. The collaboration marks Waga Energy's first WAGABOX® unit in Florida, aiming to enhance energy resilience and support decarbonization efforts in the region.
