Inauguration of an innovative biomethane production unit in Clermont-Ferrand

On May 13, 2025, Waga Energy and VALTOM inaugurated an innovative biomethane production unit in Clermont-Ferrand. Powered by a hybrid biogas source, this unit recovers biogas from the Puy-Long and Vernéa sites. This pioneering project in Europe was carried out using Waga Energy's WAGABOX® technology, which allows biomethane to be injected into the GrDF network and supply homes, businesses, and local CNG stations.

Representing an investment of €3.5 million, this project is part of a local energy transition approach. It avoids the emission of 2,500 tons of CO2 per year, promoting the decarbonization of the industrial and transport sectors. The VALTOM public authority and Waga Energy also involved residents through crowdfunding, thus strengthening support for this ecological initiative.
