Waga Energy will produce biomethane in Andalusia

Waga Energy has signed a contract with FCC Medioambiente to produce biomethane in Alhendín, near Granada, Spain. This project will use the patented WAGABOX® technology to convert biogas from the waste storage site into biomethane. This gas, a renewable substitute for fossil gas, will be injected into the local network via a 6-kilometer connection.

The unit, operational in 2028, will process 2,400 m³/h of biogas, producing 80 GWh of biomethane per year, equivalent to the consumption of 16,000 households. It will also prevent the emission of 19,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. Revenue from the sale of the biomethane will be shared with FCC Medioambiente.
