Wuxi's Musical Journey Through Europe

A cultural delegation from Wuxi, China, has successfully concluded a significant musical tour across Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Hungary. This event marked Wuxi's most extensive international outreach since being named a UNESCO Creative City of Music in 2025.

The tour, featuring an 80-member ensemble, highlighted the rich musical traditions of China's Jiangnan region. The "Chinese Folk Music Odyssey" began in Brussels, drawing a crowd of 2,000 with performances like the Spring Festival Overture. The fusion of Chinese fiddles and local Western violins in their final performance was particularly moving.

The ensemble captivated audiences in Germany and Austria, including at venues like Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie. The tour concluded in Vienna with a cultural salon that showcased both musical performances and exhibitions of traditional arts, deepening cultural ties between East and West.
