ZPMC Advances Offshore Wind Operations with New Vessel
On August 10, 2026, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) held a keel-laying ceremony for a second Service Operation Vessel (SOV) it is building for French operator LD Armateurs (LDA). This vessel is the second of three sister ships for LDA's offshore wind fleet.
This SOV, measuring 90 meters long, is designed for severe sea conditions and long-term deployment. It is equipped with a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system that minimizes fuel consumption and carbon emissions, reflecting global decarbonization efforts. The vessel includes advanced features such as a DP2 dynamic positioning system and a telescopic motion-compensated gangway.
Upon completion, it will be deployed at the Nordlicht offshore wind farm in Germany, supporting ongoing maintenance and reinforcing Europe's wind industry reliability.
