ZPMC Unveils 38,000-Ton Heavy-Lift Vessel for Chipolbrok
Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) launched its first 38,000-ton multipurpose heavy-lift vessel on May 20, 2026, at the Qidong Marine Engineering facility. This ship is the first of four constructed for Chipolbrok, a joint venture between China and Poland. The vessel measures 597 feet in length and is equipped with three 350-ton cranes for transporting oversized cargo like wind turbine components and construction machinery.
The ship features energy-efficient technologies, including ducted propellers that improve fuel efficiency by up to 4%. It is also equipped with a 1,000 kW battery system for zero-emission operations while in port. The use of high-voltage shore power connections further reduces emissions.
The series includes four vessels, with the second already launched and the remaining two under construction. These ships will enhance Chipolbrok's global heavy-lift cargo capabilities. ZPMC plans to expand in specialized vessels and offshore engineering, strengthening its global marine sector presence.
