Busy Buzzy Bots Announces Volunteer Recruitment Initiative

San Francisco, CA, USA, June 10th, 2026, FinanceWire

Nonprofit expands volunteer network to increase STEM access for underserved students.

Busy Buzzy Bots announces a volunteer recruitment initiative. The organization was founded by two Bay Area siblings to help students who normally don’t have access to robotics kits, programming tools, or hands-on STEM activities. As students, the two had a passion for robotics and programming, but did not have access to STEM tools. The tools that did exist were often unevenly distributed, with students in specific geographic areas and from lower-income communities often being left behind.

In response to the lack of STEM tools available to them and others, Busy Buzzy Bots was co-founded by siblings Saahithi Madhuvarsu and Saaketh Madhuvarsu in early 2020. The organization’s mission is to bridge the structural gap and help underserved students have access to affordable STEM kits.

Unequal Access to Hands-on STEM Education

Saahithi and her sibling Saaketh recognized that the disparity they observed in school wasn’t a curriculum problem. The unequal access to hands-on STEM education in low-income communities is rooted in the failings of institutional structures and affects students across all grade levels, K-12.

A major barrier in most underserved areas is school budgets that fall short of what is required to deliver a quality STEM education. Busy Buzzy Bots bypasses budget and resource issues in schools with a direct-delivery model for educators and students. This includes affordable DIY STEM kits, community-based workshops, and a volunteer-run delivery network.

Busy Buzzy Bots Impact

Since launching in 2020, Busy Buzzy Bots reports that it has reached more than 11,000 students through workshops, STEM kits, and community events across California. The organization states that it now supports more than 1,500 underserved students annually through hands-on STEM programming designed to increase access to robotics, coding, and engineering education. The organization has been invited to exhibit at Maker Faire for four consecutive years and was recently recognized among the event’s returning exhibitors. Busy Buzzy Bots also received a Top-Rated nonprofit designation from GreatNonprofits in 2024.

Busy Buzzy Bots has drawn recognition from the community and was included in the GreatNonprofits Top-Rated list in 2024. The nonprofit states that its long-term mission is to help reach 10,000 underserved students by 2030 through expanded workshops, STEM kit distribution, volunteer mentorship, and community partnerships.

A Co-Founder’s Mission

As a co-founder, Saahithi has been involved in the development of the STEM kit program and the direction of the nonprofit organization since its inception. Her experience as a student interested in STEM education helped shape the creation of the STEM kits and workshop programming.

Saahithi understands what kids need because she’s not an adult, but their peer. Her firsthand experience empowers her to bring credibility and insight to the organization’s programs. Busy Buzzy Bots is the fulfillment of her mission to build “something real” for other students.

Co-founder Saaketh has also played a role in helping expand the organization’s outreach efforts, workshop programming, and volunteer initiatives aimed at increasing STEM accessibility for underserved students.

Saahithi continues to guide the organization as it expands to reach more students through community engagement initiatives.

The Importance of Volunteers

Volunteers play a pivotal role in Busy Buzzy Bots. The programs are primarily volunteer-run, allowing the majority of donations to directly support students rather than organizational overhead. Volunteers help lead community workshops, mentor students, and assist with STEM kit distribution, ensuring that more children gain access to hands-on learning opportunities regardless of their background.

The organization states that volunteers also help deliver STEM kits directly to students and schools that may otherwise lack access to robotics and coding resources, helping expand educational opportunities in underserved communities.

The impact of this mission has continued to grow beyond local communities. Busy Buzzy Bots founders Saahithi and Saaketh were recently invited to speak at a TEDx Talk, where they will share their journey of inspiring young innovators and empowering students through STEM education. Their story highlights how small community-driven efforts, powered by volunteers and mentorship, can create meaningful impact and motivate young entrepreneurs around the world.

Volunteers are critical to the infrastructure, reach, and continued growth of Busy Buzzy Bots. By engaging parents, relatives, educators, and community members, the organization is able to expand its programs and reach students who might otherwise be left behind.
