Changelly Releases H1 2026 Study Revealing Three Distinct Stablecoin User Behaviors
Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, August 5th, 2026, FinanceWire
Changelly, a leading instant cryptocurrency exchange trusted by more than 12 million users worldwide, has released research analyzing stablecoin usage across its global platform during the first half of 2026. The findings reveal that crypto users are no longer following a single path toward stablecoin adoption but instead exhibit distinct behavioral patterns.
Stablecoin Users No Longer Follow the Same Playbook
The analysis, based on anonymized transaction data from Changelly web and mobile platforms, found that users generally fall into one of three categories. The largest group, representing nearly half of all users, has never interacted with stablecoins, while up to 45% rely on them for almost every transaction. Only around 15% regularly move between stablecoins and other crypto assets.
Although mixed-asset users represent the smallest segment, they generated the highest level of platform activity, completing up to 6.2 times more transactions than users who never interacted with stablecoins. In contrast, stablecoin-focused users completed fewer transactions overall but recorded average transaction values up to 2.5 times higher than the platform average.
“Our data shows there is no longer a single type of 'stablecoin user.' Instead, we've identified distinct behavioral patterns that vary by user type, transaction size, and frequency.” —Daria Morgen, Head of Research at Changelly.
One in Five Transactions. Nearly Half the Volume
The study also highlights the growing importance of stablecoins in overall crypto trading activity. Stablecoins make up fewer than one in five transactions on Changelly, yet account for nearly half of all trading volume. On average, stablecoin transactions were 4.2 times larger than transactions that did not involve stablecoins.
Among all supported stablecoins, USDT continues to dominate platform activity, accounting for nearly 14% of all transactions and more than 40% of total trading volume. USDC ranks second with just over 4% of transactions and approximately 7% of trading volume, while other stablecoins collectively represent only a small portion of activity.
The research further found that stablecoins now appear in 31% of Changelly's ten most frequently traded swap pairs, reflecting their expanding role in everyday cryptocurrency trading rather than serving solely as a store of value.
To support increasing demand for efficient digital asset transfers, Changelly provides competitive exchange rates for stablecoin swaps, including 1:1 cross-chain exchanges that enable users to move assets across blockchain networks with greater convenience.
Research Methodology
The findings are based on anonymized and aggregated transaction data collected during the first half of 2026 across Changelly's web and mobile platforms. The research evaluated crypto-to-crypto swap activity, trading volume, asset preferences, transaction frequency, and regional behavior. Users were segmented according to the percentage of stablecoin-related transactions within their overall trading activity.
