In an ever-changing international context, Neuhaus' prospects for development abroad naturally arouse the interest of our shareholders. We spoke to Isabel Baert, CEO of Neuhaus, about international growth opportunities and how the iconic brand continues to promote the excellence of Belgian chocolate around the world.
Beyond the strong appetite for premium Belgian chocolate in the USA, in what other regions do you see opportunities for growth and development?
Isabel Baert: We're seeing very positive momentum in the
Middle East and India, where the appeal of premium chocolate continues to grow steadily. In addition to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi
Arabia is emerging as
a promising market: the boom in luxury shopping malls and clear consumer demand for refined chocolate experiences indicate that the time is right. We are also strengthening our presence in Jordan, with the opening of two new stores planned over the next six months. At the same time, we are preparing to open two outlets at Mumbai International Airport, an ideal gateway to a market with considerable potential.
Airports and travel retail have always been an important sales channel for Neuhaus. In which airports or strategic international locations would you still like to expand?
Isabel Baert: We still see great opportunities to expand our distribution in major international hubs such as London's Heathrow and Amsterdam's Schiphol. Strengthening our presence and visibility in Europe's main airports remains a strategic priority. Beyond Europe, we are actively pursuing our development in the Middle East, with a new boutique at Jeddah airport in partnership with Heinemann. India is also an important growth area for Neuhaus in travel retail, with successful openings in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. We see strong potential in this market, driven by globetrotting consumers who increasingly recognize Neuhaus as the
benchmark
premium Belgian chocolatier. We are also entering the duty-free market in Japan, with the forthcoming opening of outlets in Osaka and Tokyo.
Looking to the future, what new territories or partnerships are you most excited about for Neuhaus?
Isabel Baert: Our mission is to bring the best of Belgian chocolate to the world. A key pillar of this strategy is the strengthening and expansion of our strategic partnerships in the airline sector, a world that aligns perfectly with our global ambitions. Our long-standing collaboration with Brussels Airlines remains an important pillar in terms of visibility and premium positioning, offering passengers a true experience of Belgian savoir-faire... at 10,000 meters altitude. We are also proud to work with international airlines such as Emirates. Such partnerships enable us to bring the Neuhaus experience to a truly global audience, creating exceptional moments carefully selected to appeal to discerning travelers. They help broaden our international footprint while reinforcing our position as the premium Belgian chocolatier par excellence. www.neuhauschocolates.com
