Cleaning Connoisseurs Grows From Two States to 11 After Neighbor-Focused Campaign

New York, NY, October 27th, 2026, FinanceWire

Cleaning Connoisseurs, the residential cleaning company founded by Holly Ridley Troutman, now operates in 11 states and more than 35 cities, up from two states in early 2024. The company credits much of that growth to a customer retention campaign that turned one-time bookings into steady monthly subscriptions.

The turnaround began during a difficult stretch. By early 2024, orders at Cleaning Connoisseurs were down 32%. Advertising was still bringing new customers in, but many booked a single cleaning and never returned. The company's marketing was generating interest, but it wasn't building the kind of relationship that keeps customers coming back.

Finding the Real Reason Customers Didn't Return

To understand the drop, Cleaning Connoisseurs brought in the US marketing agency Pannifex. The account was led by Anatolii Peregudin, a marketing strategist with more than 15 years of experience in customer loyalty and market segmentation.

Peregudin ran the company's customer records through a segmentation model he built for smaller businesses that don't have in-house analytics teams. The model sorts customers into four groups: those likely to leave, those who already have, those spending more, and those spending less. It estimates demand using purchase history, buying frequency and season, then points to the best channel for reaching each group.

The analysis identified 97 customers who had booked once and not come back. The usual response would have been another round of discounts. Peregudin argued that wouldn't address what was actually holding people back.

"A discount, a free sample, or a gift doesn't solve the customer's problem," Peregudin said. "You have to find the core of it and earn their trust. Only then will the customer move forward with you."

Trust Starts Next Door

For a cleaning company, the core problem was trust. Letting a stranger into your home is a big step, and Peregudin's insight was simple: people feel far more comfortable doing it when they know their neighbors already have.

That idea became the "Your Neighbors Trust Us" campaign. Cleaning Connoisseurs grouped customers by apartment complex and paired that neighbor-to-neighbor proof with offers for monthly cleaning plans. Instead of asking people to trust an unfamiliar company, the campaign showed them that people living a few doors away already did.

Results That Lasted

Retention has held up well since then. As of September 2026, about 80% of those subscribers were still with the company.

That reliable monthly revenue gave Cleaning Connoisseurs room to plan ahead and fund new locations. Over the following two years, the company expanded from two states to 11 and now serves customers in more than 35 cities.

The campaign also changed how the company thinks about growth. Rather than relying mainly on ads to keep replacing customers who leave, Cleaning Connoisseurs now puts more weight on keeping the customers it already has and letting their experience bring in others.

A Lesson for Service Businesses

The Cleaning Connoisseurs story shows how small and mid-sized service companies can compete without large marketing budgets or dedicated analytics departments. By looking closely at why customers left, and responding with proof from their own community rather than another price cut, the company built a base of loyal subscribers that supported its expansion.

Peregudin is now applying the same thinking to a venture of his own, Snöba, a human-grade dog food company he is preparing to launch in the Kansas City area. The business is inspired by his family's rescue dog, Snowball. The principle carries over from his client work: customers stay with companies they trust.
