BarmeniaGothaer closes its first financial year 2025 with a very good result
Cologne/Wuppertal, 15 December 2025 – Co-CEOs Dr. Andreas Eurich and Oliver Schoeller will present the preliminary figures for the current financial year at today’s annual financial statements press conference. BarmeniaGothaer is expected to report premium income of € 9.27 billion for 2025 – an increase of 7.9 percent compared to the previous year.[1] This means that the Group is expected to grow 0.5 percentage points above the market.[2] The Group further consolidated its equity base in 2025 and a year-end figure in the region of € 2.07 billion is expected (previous year: € 1.99 billion). The Group’s Solvency II ratio (excluding transitional measures on technical provisions) is expected to rise from 189.3 percent in 2024 to 201.1 percent. Consolidated net profit should increase from € 19 million to in the region of € 101 million.
Gross premiums written by Gothaer Allgemeine Versicherung AG are projected at € 2.9 billion, which is 8.6 percent above the 2024 level and represents above-market growth (market growth rate: 7.7 percent[3]). Net profit for the year before allocations to the equalization reserve is expected to be around € 92.1million – an increase of 104 percent versus the previous year. The (gross) combined ratio is expected to improve by around 2.1 percentage points to 91.2 percent. The Solvency II ratio of the property and casualty insurer (with undertaking-specific parameters) is expected to rise by 16.3 percentage points to 179.5 percent.
Rating agency S&P Global Ratings (S&P) confirmed the ratings of Gothaer Allgemeine Versicherung AG, Gothaer Krankenversicherung AG and Gothaer Lebensversicherung AG in June 2025. All three companies have retained their 'A’ rating and the outlook remains ‘positive’. S&P’s positive outlook has opened up an opportunity to improve the current rating by a further increment to ‘A+’ within the next 12 to 24 months.[4]
