Cologne, 07.11.2023 – With the Munich Airport by Mercure the German hotel operator Atomis is adding another hotel to its portfolio. Guests at the 168-room hotel at Freisinger Straße 80 in Oberding can reach the terminals for flight-departures and arrivals within a few minutes. "A hotel with such outstanding location quality at an international airport is an ideal addition and enhancement to our accommodation offers for travellers in Germany," says Alexander Eisner, Managing Director of Atomis. Many companies also use the Mercure for conferences, seminars and meetings due to its convenient location.

The international hotel brand Mercure belongs to the Accor Group, with which Atomis has already been successfully operating the ibis Hotel Nürnberg Altstadt for around two years. "Extending our collaboration with such a hotel giant to another hotel is both a recognition of our previous work and a special challenge," says Alexander Eisner.

When Atomis was given the opportunity to take over the operation of the airport hotel, which operated under the name Grand Excelsior Hotel until September of this year, Eisner and his team were looking for the right brand partner for this excellent location at Munich Airport. "A four-star hotel is clearly the best fit here," says Eisner: "After an intensive review of various options, Accor and the Mercure brand stood out as the best possible partner for us." One decisive reason was the already proven cooperation.

"Airport hotels in such an excellent location are an ideal fit for an international brand like Mercure and are an important part of the portfolio," explains Benedikt Heydweiller, Vice President Franchise Operations DACH at Accor: "International guests who have already come to appreciate Mercure quality at other locations also trust our proven brand standards when travelling to new destinations. In order to meet the high expectations of travellers, successful and trusting cooperation with our franchise partners is therefore also crucial. We are therefore delighted to be cooperating with Atomis once again."

According to Atomis Managing Director Eisner, the Mercure Hotel therefore represents a special obligation for his company to confirm its previous success. "In order to guarantee the high quality requirements and a smooth takeover of operations, we have expanded the existing hotel team once again. This has created the conditions for a high quality of stay and a pleasant atmosphere for travellers." To ensure that this remains the case in the long term and to continue to meet the Mercure standard, the property and rooms will be modernised in the coming years.

With 168 rooms, the Hotel Munich Airport by Mercure is the largest hotel in the Atomis German operator portfolio. In addition to the ibis Hotel Nürnberg Altstadt with 61 rooms, this includes another hotel in Nuremberg city centre, the art & business hotel with 49 rooms. The Atomis Hotel Dachau Munich offers 120 units. "The fact that we have so far only been represented in Bavaria will not remain so for long," announces Eisner: "Now we will also expand into other federal states and regions. We are in talks with hotel chains and property owners throughout Germany. If necessary, Atomis will also enter into existing operator contracts if these can no longer be fulfilled due to the changed framework conditions."
