PRESS RELEASE

Renowned Plastic Surgeon Dr. Steven R. Cohen of Faces Plus to Take the TEDx Stage in September 2026

San Diego, CA, USA, July 21st, 2026, FinanceWire

Dr. Steven R. Cohen, MD, FACS, an internationally recognized facial plastic surgeon, regenerative medicine innovator, and Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at UC San Diego, has been selected as a featured speaker at TEDxClemson 2026. The event will be held on September 26, 2026, at the Strom Thurmond Institute Auditorium in Clemson, South Carolina, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

This year's theme is Firsts. Rooted in the belief that every meaningful impact begins with a beginning. The theme invites speakers and attendees to explore the courage required to go first: to ask the question no one has asked, pursue the breakthrough no one thought possible, and transform bold first moves into lasting impact, and a theme Dr. Cohen has lived professionally for decades.

A Platform Reserved for Visionaries

TED is one of the world's most recognized platforms for ideas worth spreading, with a global audience spanning more than 100 countries. TEDx events bring that same spirit of intellectual rigor and visionary thinking to communities worldwide; virtually and in-person. Selection as a TEDx speaker is a mark of distinction reserved for individuals whose ideas have the potential to shift how people think, and for Dr. Cohen, the invitation reflects a career defined by exactly that.

Why Dr. Steven R. Cohen

Dr. Cohen's selection for TEDxClemson is a natural fit for a theme built around firsts. Trained at Columbia-Presbyterian, the University of Pennsylvania, and UCLA, he spent the early years of his career in craniofacial reconstruction before pioneering some of the most significant advances in regenerative facial surgery of the past two decades. He was the first surgeon in the world to treat newborns with Pierre Robin syndrome using distraction, a technique now adopted globally. He co-invented Lipocube and the proprietary Injectible Tissue Replacement (ITR²) technique, which has shown 80% facial volume retention two years post-procedure compared to the industry standard of 35%.

Ranked #1 for facelifts in Southern California by Newsweek in 2025 and recognized among America's Best Plastic Surgeons for three consecutive years, Dr. Cohen is also the founder of the first multidisciplinary aesthetic fellowship in the United States and the author of more than 170 scientific publications. Interestingly, he is also a working visual artist whose paintings are held in private collections across the country. His breadth of skill and knowledge positions him perfectly for the TEDx stage.

A Glimpse at What's to Come

Dr. Cohen's talk will explore the nature of creativity itself: what it means, where it comes from, and why it lies at the heart of every breakthrough, whether in a laboratory, a studio, or an operating room. Drawing on his own experience as a surgeon, inventor, and artist, he will examine the conditions that allow original thinking to flourish and the courage required to pursue an idea occupying uncharted territory.

TEDxClemson 2026 takes place September 26, 2026, at the Strom Thurmond Institute Auditorium, beginning at 2:00 PM. The event is open to the public, but seats are limited. Register here to be part of the conversation.
